ABOUT US

There are well-meaning people who do not like all the "labels" of Christianity; whether that label is Baptist, Presbyterian or Pentecostal. Still, labels serve a purpose. Imagine opening your cupboard to select some can of food - and find there are no labels on the cans. Are you really in the mood for a "mystery meal"? The same goes for church - you want to know what's going on inside the doors before you enter.

WE USE THREE KEY LABELS TO HELP PEOPLE UNDERSTAND WHAT NEW SONG IS ALL ABOUT:

Pentecostal & Charismatic
We believe God is alive and well, and active in His church by and through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. God still blesses, still heals, still prospers those who have said "yes" to Jesus! We not only pray to Him, but fully expect Him to answer.

Missional
Simply said, we are obedient to God's desire that we tell others that He loves them and wants to have a loving relationship with them.

For additional information please see our beliefs and vision & mission pages.

Our History in a Nutshell
We were birthed in the late 1960's as a Bible-study led by founding pastor, Fred Watrous. Pastor Watrous led the church from its beginnings in Westerly, RI, to its current building located on Liberty Street in the Pawcatuck section of Stonington, CT. At that time the church was called Faith Assembly of God. In 2003, the name of the church was changed to New Song Assembly of God to better reflect its place in the community for the new millennium -- we call our church "New Song."

New Song is affiliated with The General Council of the Assemblies of God, a nation-wide Pentecostal Fellowship of 2 million believers. Locally, we are part of the Southern New England District - a network of 172 churches scattered over the tri-state area of Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
